One of the most intriguing items at Whispering Woods Gallery is the historic map collection portal. We offer your favorite maps from all over Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Philadelphia, NJ Shore points, New York City, and all over the USA. Let’s take it a bit further. We offer over 1.6 million maps from all over the world! We offer our maps unframed but we suggest letting us frame them to look their best to last for generations. These maps are printed to your specifications. Want to give it a spin? Go to our map site to look for US Maps. Looking for a world map or something a little different? This page will let you travel the world!
One of my favorite types of vintage maps is the “Birdseye View.” These maps were made in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Sometimes referred as aero or panoramic views, they are non-photographic maps of cities and towns from above. See the Margate map below. Want to search for your town? Search here for “Birdseye View” maps. Just put in the state that you are interested in, to get going.

Whispering Woods Gallery is excited to offer vintage postcards. When we create a postcard montage for somebody we are reminding them of happy times from a vacation spot, their hometown, or a school that they attended.
We don’t sell copies, all are authentic. We have offerings framed, matted and unmatted. We’ve set up an online Etsy shop so that all can shop with us. Feel free to visit our shop 24/7. Here is a collection of framed postcard projects created at Whispering Woods Gallery. Have an idea? Give Susan a call to create a gift they won’t forget.

Whispering Woods Gallery recently completed a job of seven framed US currency sheets for Kenny of Holland. It was a learning experience and very interesting project.
Interested in the history of American money? Here’s a Brief History from The Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It includes the origins, production, and timeline of US Currency. Interested in buying currency for framing? Here is where you can purchase new uncut currency as shown in our photos. Remember that a gift of framed money is a gift for the “hard to buy for” people on your holiday gift list.
Here are a few fun facts about currency (from federalreserve.gov):
Did you know that the lifespan of a $10 bill is 4.5 years?
Did you know that it takes about 4,000 double folds before a bill will tear?
Did you know that it 454 bills weigh out to be one pound?
Did you know that US Currency paper is made out of 75 percent cotton and 25 percent linen?

We see a lot of 70’s stitchery come in for framing. As a stitcher in the 70’s, I know it well and love it! The color palette of the stitching is usually bright, clear and cheerful but in most cases it has been poorly framed. Here is a recent project framed for Mary of Horsham. Mary was delighted and will hang it in her dining room.
Whispering Woods Gallery welcomes Pope Francis and all visitors to the Philadelphia area. We are delighted to offer an open edition print of Pope Francis by artist Nicholas Santoleri.

Pope Francis Print – as he appeared in St. Peter’s Square in Rome this summer (2015). Pope Francis is probably one of the most photographed public figures in the world today. This pencil portrait and print captures the spirit of this holy man of the people who is an inspiration to many around the world.
The original pencil drawing was reproduced on acid free, 100lb. fine art paper with pigmented inks, and will last for generations. Each reproduction of “Pope Francis” the pencil drawing, is hand signed by the artist and can be custom framed.

One of our favorite assignments at Whispering Woods Gallery is when we are asked to showcase 12 years of school photos. This Newtown mom saw our Whispering Woods Gallery shop sample years ago and saved each wallet size photo for both her son and daughter. This is a lovely display using a simple white mat with navy blue trim, which are the school’s colors. A simple white frame with a beaded ornamentation frames the school photos. A UV filtering glass by Tru Vue was used to help prevent fading over the years. Not only do we think this is great design but the world wide framing community thought so too! We are proud that we won a third place in the Larson Juhl Design Star contest in the Photographs catagory in January 2014 for a similar design for this graduate’s older brother. Congratulations to the Class of 2015!

We are delighted to announce that Whispering Woods Gallery won first place in the Textiles category at the Design Star Competition hosted by Larson Juhl on January 26, 2015. This competition gave framers the opportunity to showcase their design skills. Framers entered by submitting digital photos of their entries in seven categories: Objects, Mirrors, Textiles, Documents, Art on Canvas, Art on Paper and Photography.
It was an exciting night at the West Coast Art and Frame Show in Las Vegas and hundreds from the international framing community were in attendance. The event was emceed by Greg Perkins CPF, Marketing Manager for Larson Juhl and author of “Great Frame Design.” Awards were given by Drew Van Pelt, CEO at Larson Juhl. There were close to 900 entries internationally.
The winning framed textile piece by Whispering Woods Gallery was a blackwork stitchery stitched by Susan Gittlen MCPF and framed in Larson Juhl’s Marais line of moulding. The piece was so popular at the shop that several customers stitched their own versions from the pattern. It is on display at the shop.
In 2014, Susan Gittlen of Whispering Woods Gallery captured two third place awards in the Photography and Documents categories. She was also a judge in the Mirrors category for 2015. A framed design specially designed by Susan for the event was displayed.
