Here’s Lucy

If you have ever visited Margate, New Jersey you probably passed by Lucy the Elephant. Built in 1881, Lucy is a six story structure that attracts thousands of visitors each year. As a framer, opportunities to frame Lucy are plentiful!  Here are a few of Whispering Woods Gallery’s projects.  Contact Sue for more about prints, vintage postcards and framing.  215-364-4321.

Twelve Years of Photos

School Photos Framed
Twelve years of school photos is always an eye-catching project.

One of our favorite assignments at Whispering Woods Gallery is when we are asked to showcase 12 years of school photos.  This Newtown mom saw our Whispering Woods Gallery shop sample years ago and saved each wallet size photo for both her son and daughter.  This is a lovely display using a simple white mat with navy blue trim, which are the school’s colors.  A simple white frame with a beaded ornamentation frames the school photos.  A UV filtering glass by Tru Vue was used to help prevent fading over the years.  Not only do we think this is great design but the world wide framing community thought so too!  We are proud that we won a third place in the Larson Juhl Design Star contest in the Photographs catagory in January 2014 for a similar design for this graduate’s older brother.  Congratulations to the Class of 2015!

Thank you for keeping me busy in 2013!

Just a few of the many multiple opening projects in 2013.
These are just a few of the multiple opening projects that we framed in 2013
From left: WWII ephemera, framed photos, 1950’s family recipes, framed Hummel art, more framed recipes, WWII gas rationing coupons and ephemera.

I am thankful for a busy 2013 and am looking forward to what unusual framing projects will arrive in 2014.

Vintage 40's Wedding Snapshot

What does a picture framer give as a gift?  What he or she does best, a framed picture!

I recently needed a gift for an 85th birthday celebration.  As it was a surprise, the family of the recipient provided me with a few snapshots.  The more casual snapshot proved to be the best choice.  We digitally fixed a few scratches and minor blemishes, enlarged the photo and picked a lovely time appropriate framing package.

What a perfect way to remember a special wedding!  Imagine the possibilities lurking in your photo albums!
